We’re a few weeks into the year now.

The excitement has settled.

Life looks mostly the same as it did before.

And this is usually when resolutions start to feel heavy.

Not because we stopped caring.

Not because we did anything wrong.

But because most of us tried to add something new to lives that were already maxed out.

Another habit.

Another goal.

Another thing to keep up with.

The plate was already full.

We just kept stacking.

For a bit, it works.

Motivation is high.

Calendars are lighter as things ease back in after the holidays.

Then the calendar fills up again.

The weather gets colder.

Energy fades.

Something has to give.

Most of the time, it’s the resolution.

The thing that would be “really nice” gets pushed aside.

Here’s what I keep coming back to.

Change doesn’t fail because we aren’t motivated.

It doesn’t fail because we can’t do it.

It fails because of volume.

We simply try to do too many things at once.

January 1st gets a lot of attention.

But it’s just a day on the calendar.

It doesn’t create space.

It doesn’t add time or energy.

It doesn’t automatically make life lighter.

Real change can start anytime.

On a random Tuesday.

In the middle of a normal week.

When you notice something feels heavier than it needs to.

So today, ask yourself this.

What could I set down?

A commitment that no longer fits.

A habit you’ve outgrown.

A standard that adds pressure but very little value.

When you put things like that down, you free up your most limited resources.

Time.

Energy.

Attention.

And those can go toward what matters most to you.

Your health.

Your family.

Work that feels meaningful.

Or whatever brings you a little more peace of mind.

Here’s a small thought experiment.

Imagine trading just ten minutes of screen time for ten minutes of movement.

Or connection.

Or reading a physical book.

Notice how that idea feels in your body.

No action required.

Just something to think about.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

If it helped, keep it.

If it didn’t, let it go.

This is the kind of work I do in my one on one coaching.

We look at what’s filling your plate.

We talk about what actually matters.

And we make room without blowing up your life.

If that sounds useful, you can reply to this email to start a conversation.

Until then, stay warm and keep things simple.

Yours in Simplicity,

Jimmy
