It is cold. Like brutally cold.

The kind of cold that hurts your skin and burns your lungs.

Its too cold for salt to work on walkways and driveways.

It’s too cold to go outside without a darn good reason. And once you do decide to go out, it takes some thought to prepare for the weather.

Before you even open the door, you pause. You think twice about going outside.

Is it worth it?

Am I ready?

Do I really need to go?

In this extreme cold, nothing is automatic.

You plan more. You move slower. You act more intentionally.

Dress in the proper clothing….hats, gloves, scarves, boots.

Make sure to time your trips carefully and bundle your to minimize being out in the weather.

And it really shows us something about the rest of our lives.

Most days, we don’t think twice.

We say yes. We go. We fill up that calendar.

We move on autopilot.

But the cold doesn’t allow autopilot.

It forces awareness and for us to be thoughtful before making a move.

We waste less energy. We feel less rushed.

We say yes to fewer things to protect our time and our focus.

Life feels calmer.

Maybe that is the real gift of winter.

The reminder that not every door needs to be opened.

Today, pause once before saying yes.

The bigger the decision, the longer the pause.

If it isn’t essential, let it wait.

If you want help simplifying your life with more clarity and intention, I would love to work with you.
